Gameplay streaming on the Internet. At the time, it was the hottest innovation in the game, but OnLive poisoned the well. Has PlayStation Now improved the experience? Tom has full latency and a breakdown of image quality.

"Are PS4 Games Worth Playing On PlayStation Now on PC?"
ReplyDeleteWell, Playing and really Playing are two different pairs of Shoes. You can play it, but Graphically it's a Disaster. Graphics is extremely blurry with max. 720P, everything blurs into one another. The 2 Graphics Settings: PS Now Hardware Acceleration and Game Stream Optimization, really don't do anything, because you can't improve anything with your Graphics card, because everything only runs over the Stream.
The only possibility is if you have a good TV with a lot of possibilities to improve the Picture a bit, such as more Sharpness, Anti-Aliasing, etc. etc. but even then only the 720P Picture is stretched and improved.
If you could at least use Nvidia's Freestayle, it would certainly be a little leap forward to improve the Graphics, but unfortunately that doesn't work or if PS Now were still paired with your own Graphics Card, so that you could play with your Graphics card Settings, but unfortunately nothing works there either. In other words, you have to rely on the grace of Sony that at some point they will cap it, that PC Players are worth as much as Playstation Players, offer better Graphics and Functions and because PC Players finally offer a real PS Now Platform so that you don't as a PC Player constantly has the feeling that you are Inferior and if you don't like it, you should buy a PS4 ...
PS: I have a PS4, but I have a lot of Friends who don't have one yet and I can't recommend PS Now in the State of the Games there with a clear Conscience because the Quality there is like a slap in the Face.
PS Now is fucking shit, making you pay extra when you're already a PS Plus member.
ReplyDeleteBut the quality of image and gameplay on PS Now are shit.
I've got the best Sky can offer.
SkyQ, new Sky Hub, sky fibre..... all hard wired.
You can be in a game and then all of a sudden the screen looks fuzzy, blurred.... the game slips and skips.... for the price they ask it is awful.
Now I play mainly on my Pro, but when I play on my X on Game Pass, it is far superior.
This is not ownership. Digital games are bad enough. This is another level of unnacceptable.
ReplyDeleteBatman arkham origins looks like Composite
ReplyDeleteI'm a PlayStation player and I can say PS NOW sucks
ReplyDeleteSo in conclusion PS Now is underwhelming. But in the future who knows.
ReplyDelete100 bucks a year isn’t bad for all the games you get people I mean how many indie or aaa titles can you buy for that price!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy PlayStation now games are lagging, any suggestions on how to fix it? I really need help !
ReplyDeleteThe latency problems are very outdated. Sony needs to deal with this issue...
ReplyDeleteSoftware like Parsec can give 20-30ms latency to a cloud gaming PC!
Wtf
ReplyDeleteMy PlayStation now legs like shit makes me wanna but a Xbox 😂😂😂😂
ReplyDeleteShouldnt have to upgrade my device at all its like I’m giving them free money
ReplyDeleteWhen it works it works when it doesn’t it doesn’t
ReplyDeleteI've played under the circumstances that I practically have ps now and ps plus for free.. but, in my opinion based on my experience from playing streamed games, it all comes down to how good your internet is.. my Internet isn't the best but it holds it's own. It has good days, and bad days streaming games.
ReplyDeletejust got it works well most of them are laggy as hell but psnow works like butter i have been testing it for 2 days and it has only lagged out about 7 times for me and my internet is slow and im not using a Ethernet cable over all would recommend it but not a lot of games
ReplyDeleteI finally just started playing Bloodborne for the first time on my PC last week. I do not own a PS4 and I don't want one as there are only a few PS4 exclusive games I'm interested in playing, Bloodborne alone is worth the subscription for me as I'll be playing it a lot so I'll be getting good value for money. I haven't had any latency issues, lag, or anything else that has hampered playing.
ReplyDeletewhy can't u just download the games to your hard drive like game pass?
ReplyDeleteNo lag would make it amazing.
ReplyDeleteFor me,it'll be worth it if all the Suikoden games comes out on it.
ReplyDeleteI had few times ps now but the lagg and image quality, damn not good, not good
ReplyDeleteWe just got it in Norway I have a 45/45 upload and downspeed. It seems to look slightly better via the app playing it via pc then it does directly from my ps4 which I actually have a cable connected to unlike my pc which is hooked up to my TV.
ReplyDeleteIs there anyway you can get it to look 720p instead of what looks like 480p?
Its laggy
ReplyDeleteGot the year subscription for 99.99 and completely worth it. Great service and can't wait to see where Sony take it with competition flooding in.
ReplyDeleteThe Quality ist Bullshit. I tried Bloodborne on PC and it looks so extremly bad. Es liegt nicht an der Internetverbindung. It is not due to the internet connection.
ReplyDeleteI been Tested Plastation Now with Mortal Kombat . First a played from HDD and not Streamed and after a Played from Stream not only a seen Difference on Resolution and also on Imput Lag iz Noticable in Stream Game even with perfect Conection a have a ping 0 ms . Conclusion for Real Gamers en Entusiast Game Native on Console no Stream it Sucks . My opinion right Now and for Backwards Compatible no one should pay for Games a Allready have on Disc so ttzz
ReplyDeleteWhat about countries that don't have PS support and have to play from UK or US servers? That should be tested too. Not that I'm supporting it, but everybody knows that the input lag would be horrible
ReplyDeleteNot at all. Lag like hell.
ReplyDeleteIn Austria, it just doesnt work. It´s unplayable, and no, my internet connect is not too slow neither is my Pc too weak. This lags and stutters like crazy, it´s show that there is a bad connect but if i stop it and run multiple speedtests everything is fine. So it´s not on my end.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the master chief collection video? 😔
ReplyDeleteİs Playstation needed for this service ?
ReplyDeletelag lag lag
ReplyDeleteIt is lagging so hard. I have hard sound lags and the game runs in 0,50 Speed. Just unplayable.
ReplyDeleteThis is why ive kept my ps3....
ReplyDeleteBeen playing psnow on the ps4 pro and I’m super impressed but I just wish they would reduce the input lag
ReplyDeletethefuck is wrong with this guys eyebrows?
ReplyDeleteAlmost 200ms of lag
ReplyDeleteEven though Xbox doesn't have a huge amount of exclusives, they don't suck at all with downloading games that are backwards compatible (funn nostalgic games) & download exclusives for 10 dollars a month!👌🏆
ReplyDeleteNot bad
Not bad at all! 🤙
Winning.
Also, lets be honest folks.
Theres going to be pros and cons with both systems playstation & xbox.
Come on now!
Video is full of crap. I'm running 300mb internet and with both wifi and hardwired i'm still experiencing such bad lag in PS Now games that its unplayable, expecially first person shooters
ReplyDeleteI’m maybe the only one that uses it 😂😂
ReplyDeleteI just wana play game from PSX & PS3 on PS4! What a wrong with sony ?
ReplyDeleteNext generation will be heated because Microsoft is already considering next generation console issues. The crossplay issue is just icing on the cake for Microsoft. Microsoft is thinking carefully about the issues I will now describe because they have pivoted to an inherent backwards compatibility model.
ReplyDeletePlayStation needs to make some business changes before the next console generation. Hopefully they have learned by now Backwards compatibility is important.
PS3 Cell Architecture tried something new and struggled. The first wave of PS3s had Backwards compatibility with PS2. That feature drove up the cost of the PS3. PS4 not having Backwards compatibility with PS3 is understandable.
PS5 should be Backwards compatible with PS4 day one. If we all have to reset libraries again then making a transition to another platform will be easier. Making PS5 Backwards compatible will cannibalize PS Now Service so they will have to think about the future of the service while PS5 is still in development.
I foresee PS Now and PS plus combined into one subscription service. There is no need to have two subscription services offering PS4/PS5 games. Especially with Backwards compatibility as a PS5 Feature.
PS Now will need to allow downloading of PS4 and eventually PS5 games, as well as allow them to be streamed at resolutions that the user can select 2160p 1080p or 720p, to all supported devices, and eventually phones and tablets. It is rumored that PS Now will get PS4 downloads this September.
The PlayStation Vita was a great proof of concept of game streaming on portable devices. New phones and tablets will be more powerful than the PS Vita. I believe this is why the PS Vita2 will never exist. Game streaming is the future. 5G is coming. Competition is creating this innovation now, PlayStation can strike first.
In my opinion PS3 and earlier generation games could remain as streamed games only unless there was significant demand from the community to develop quality emulators and put the games through a rigorous QA process, doubtful.
Game development is becoming more expensive and time consuming. We will want to play our last generation greatest hits, preferably enhanced on the new console with a system wide PS5 boost mode option, while we wait for the next big thing.
On the subject of PS5 development let’s talk about the PS4 controller. They have done a lot of things right. The biggest gripe would be the touch pad. It drains the battery life constantly looking for input where none exist and serves no function other than an extra button, usually to pull up menus. Even first party developers don’t use it to its full potential. We appreciate that PlayStation has experimented with putting bells and whistles on the hardware but most developers don’t use them. If you want to add a feature to the PS5 controller consider user focused features instead of developer focused features like adding a basic internal microphone so users can enable voice chat built onto the controller. Just a suggestion. In my opinion the lights and the speaker are fine additions to the PS4 controller.
Just like in movies, music, television, and now gaming, the entertainment industry has transitioned from an ownership model to a subscription based or advertising based access model. Downloading a game as well as having the option to stream the game, at the users chosen resolution, if the device supports it, is a viable long term strategy as long as the subscription is valid. They could also offer free access with advertising before loading up the game and before allowing an auto save or between multiplayer matches.
I’m Predicting PS5 in late September 2020 for various reasons that I won’t write about here.
Its simply not worth it
