  2. No one mentions how the 360 had two models at launch. There was the Core with no HDD.

  4. Unlike the image for playstation controllers you showed, my dual shock 2 did not have the button to turn on/off the analogue sticks. I'm sure I'm remembering correctly.

  6. Apple did a funny naming convention with their watches. helps with the differences in specs. like sizes and materials and editions. Series 5 44mm stainless steel for instance.

not sure why xbox is going this route

  10. I bought a video card on a Black Friday sale that came to $790 CAN after taxes and is 9.216 TFLOPS at factory clocks. How is it possible to deliver a 12 TFLOP GPU in a console for more than $100 cheaper than just my video card unless MS is taking a bath in order to gain market share?

  13. Microsoft having any type of consistency of naming products would be a miracle moving forward. I mean look from surface tablets to windows to failed projects like “Games for Windows Live” or “One Care”. How about successful ones like Xbox who knows based on the name what console is the new one.

  14. Considering the cooling, i'm sure designers glanced at a few PC designs, like for example Corsair's One series, or the BullDog. Perhaps they decided that it would work for them if they used an inspired design mentality, i speculate this because i see not only artistic design similarities but also functional, tried and true, proven efficient cooling design methodology similarities used here with this comparison. Too many things are very much the same when you look at them side by side. Xbox doing things a bit more simply of course (such as no liquid cooling), but the inspiration i can see clearly.

Now, with the console placed on its side, perhaps it wouldn't get the full amount of cooling, but i feel that the designers tested this, and found their results to be within acceptable margins, which means (to the consumer) that it will run only a few degrees hotter in that orientation. This is a HUGE plus for consumers considering xbox's past with hardware issues and returns. Also, many of the new changes to console design incorporate components that generate less heat, this also helps with things like hardware failure rates. My point is the new hardware design is very well done compared to in the past and consumers will get more bang for the proverbial buck in the long run, i wager.

I am one of those that saw consoles try to become PCs, and saw PCs try to become consoles, the line between them is fading fast, this is proof of this, we saw it years ago.

  15. Series X. Pretty sure that's a hint. Xbox one X will be able to play games of the Series X for at least a year or 2. Xbox one S will probably be dropped and you need to upgrade.
