Many people look forward to the Xbox Series X games coming in 2020 and beyond. Judging by recent comments, it looks like there won't be any X Series exclusive games for a little while, as these new Xbox Series X games will also hit Xbox One in 2020. Is it smart ?

It's a Rad idea, cause it means no one is forced to go get a new gen system right off the back and can still play games coming out for the Xbox Brand with a few slight difference just like mobile phones.
ReplyDeleteI think you have misunderstood the strategy. MS isn't interested in number of consoles sold, they focus on userbase for their games. Having games on both platforms allow XSX to grow while they keep the userbase large. Also, the difference between console versions will likely be the same as running a game in different configurations on PC.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a console it's a ecosystem for selling software. They had it and with the PC all along. Microsoft should of never entered the console space. And the likes of steam should never of been a thing.

Everyone is taking Mr. Booty's statement wrong. What he is saying is that For the foreseeable future, game developers are going to be required to make the games down scaled and playable on the previous gen systems. This just means that all NEW games developed for the Series X CAN NOT be made EXCLUSIVELY to work on the Series X, and they must be playable on the XBOX ONE series as well. This do not mean that all the new games coming out on the Series X will not take advantage of the new hardware, which is what it sounds like this video is about.

ReplyDeleteI do like the strategy and hope it works. I think it's all about selling more copies of the games and having more downloads on Gamepass. Series X is probably $600 and a lot of people will wait on a price drop. Multiplayer exclusives like Halo Infinite will die before any hardware price cuts if they're exclusive.

ReplyDeletehow many people are going to jump to Sony in those 2 years. I bet Sony could have 6-7 exclusives out before Microsoft gets 1 out. And it still has to be good.

ReplyDeleteThis won't throttle development. If you know much about the PC game world you know that this has been the norm for many decades now. Until someone says what the game experience will be on both consoles I'm just going to assume there is an asterisk next to will play on both consoles. Even a game played under it's minimum specs will play on an older computer. The textures will suck and the frame rate will be horrible. But developers are doing zero work to make those work on an older system. Put even minimum work into optimizing for the older system and 30fps on minimum settings isn't unrealistic.

ReplyDeleteI don't get why everyone is making a big deal of this like it's their first launch console ever. It's been like this these last few generations and the only difference is that they are telling us that their doing it instead of lying about it. At the end of the day it's pro consumer so why make a big deal with click baity videos.

So I suppose if you take The Last of Us from the PS3 it'll work fine with no problem in the PS4... Right? I've played Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Xbox 360 and there is was the differences between the Xbox 360 vs spymaster Xbox One, S and the X

ReplyDeleteMicrosoft said their exclusives will be cross platform, however the key word is "their" 3rd party developers will likely keep their new games on the new systems.
So the very likely scenario is if you want to play most new games, you will still have to buy a new console.

ReplyDeleteBoth MS and Sony 3rd party games will be multi platform just like the transition was from PS3/XB360 to PS4/XB1. I've to see true coop games vs online multiplayer games for this upcoming console generation. There were a few for this generation but only one my friend and I liked--Diablo3. Diablo 4 looks impressive, but I want more than just one. PS5, I want to see a better VR experience with wireless and a full game experience. Otherwise I will probably just buy a bigger harddrive for my PC
ReplyDeleteI have friends who can’t afford a new system. I will be getting Series X day one but am glad my friends will still be able to game with me with the new games. Games will look and play better and faster on the Series X. X enhanced games will still exist. Prediction, Halo Infinite will be 4K 60 on Series X with no loading.

Maybe they going to rush out and buy the Series X even tho you can get the game on the one s also is because of graphics. Did you miss that? Who cares if they support the game across all consoles. It will still play better on the series X. That why I have the One X cause even tho my son can play the same game on his one S, it still looks way better on my X. They will buy it for the top notch experience. Simple right?

ReplyDeleteTHIS IS A BAD MOVE .... IF I WAS GETTING ONE I WOULD JUST WAIT INSTEAD OF DAY ONE BUY ...IF THEIR IS NOTHING EXCLUSIVE JUST BETTER FPS AND PLAY AND DROP AFTER A WEAK OR TWO GAMES ? Unless its a nbk ,cod , games then people will buy with the new gen graphics
ReplyDeleteHaven’t most XBOX exclusive games at launch really sucked though? Zero reason to buy the XBOX Series X at launch then. See how much better the launch titles are for the Censorship Flop Box 9.2 and see if that’s worth it. I think this is the first time I won’t be buying consoles at launch. No need to. Unless the flop box is FULLY backwards compatible with PS1 through PS4, then I’m going with that.
