Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) is a digital video game download service available from the Xbox Games Store, Microsoft's digital distribution network for the Xbox 360 with its original version on the original Xbox in 2003. Here is a return to back on XBLA history and why it's not part of the Xbox One console.

Hopefully Microsoft sees their error from these community posts where people hope it would come back. I personally wish that too. Hopefully it's brought back in future for coming xbox changes and bring it back from it's best days. BUT that specifically means that Microsoft absolutely needs to have heavy moderation of releases in their service. I have Switch on Nintendo has their store filled with their content being 95% of absolute garbage. Mostly phone games (Free ones) transferred to Switch and slapped with ridiculous price. Many really bad cash grab games are on huge discount pretty much all the time, cause some one will buy and dime is dime. All-in-all XBLA was really great service when it was it's best. There were much actually good content and many really good quality and cheap casual games. And if XBLA ever comes back there absolutely needs to be that "download for free and try for a moment" feature.
ReplyDeleteI have PGR 2 witth arcade bundle. 3 discs.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the most interesting channels I've ever found - you have so much knowledge of the scenes and modding communities that I once enjoyed very much. Thank you for sharing your experiences and wealth of knowledge.
ReplyDeleteJoy Ride Turbo!!
ReplyDeleteMan, I loved the original 360 Blades dashboard... so clean, simple, quick to navigate, straightforward, and it matched the physical design of the 360's case... I hate the generic metro tiles that it got hammered into... scrolling through squares... ads... videos automatically playing... my background wallpaper cut in half so the squares could sit on a ground and have shadows for some reason? Yes, exactly what I wanted, Micro$oft. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt's like completely different people showed up to work one day and decided to "update" the interior design to something more "modern." And, I had no idea after an update back then, it could completely change the way my system looked and function. That was my first distaste for updates "fixing" what ain't broke.

ReplyDeleteIf I buy a 360 today, can I still download games?
N+ anyone?
ReplyDeleteXBLA had Braid, and for many Braid was this work of genius that made the entire concept of an independent game something to take notice of. THE game I think of when I think back to the XBLA is Braid.
ReplyDeleteBringing back XBLA should be a core focus of MS for the XB2.
ReplyDeleteI miss XBLA. I like smaller indie games.
ReplyDeleteI miss this so much. I bought a new launch day Xbox one and after they dropped the arcade I was forever turned off. I'm thinking of buying a modded 360 with the arcade installed. Does anyone have experience with a modded 360 such as this?

ReplyDeleteIf only there was somebody out there who would be a real fucking hero and crack through the predatory paywall system shitty companies like microsoft put in place to exploit their customers.

I have an Xbox 360 that I will never get rid of simply for Scott Pilgrim vs the World. Wish it would have a PC port :(
ReplyDeleteI miss XBLA this so much. Not only were the games fun, but it also served as really the only reason to give a damn about your Xbox Live Avatar, as it was often used as your playable character in so many XBLA games. My personal favorite being Full house Poker. So many of my online friends would get together every Saturday and play it well into the night. Was a nice, relaxing time after a week of Halo, Gears of War, CoD, etc.
ReplyDeleteCan we get an F for the delisted games?
ReplyDeleteReally disappointed they removed TMNT 1989 Arcade, Double Dragon, Outrun Online, Marvel Vs Capcom: Origins. As I had those on trial versions but didn't get a chance to purchase at the time, so now no way to unlock the full game. Also, may I say that licence key issues plague XBLA as I noticed some of my titles I bought are back to being trial versions only and my redownload doesn't seem to remedy this.
ReplyDeleteForced 15 second Verizon ad? I’ll never use Verizon now. Just out of spite.
ReplyDeleteMARBLE BLAST ULTRA!

ReplyDeletewell you bunch of sherlocks. incase you never realized... xbox live arcade games merged into normal games. some people call them (even microsoft!) * Xbox Indie titles* there are still hell of a lot gems out there. this is just another nostalgic everything was better back in the days youtube video. but i have to admit, it doesnt change the fact that it is actually a pretty good video.
ReplyDeleteI miss the arcade games I wish they had got captain America and the average the 4 players game and the amazing spider man another 4 player game ninja kid I miss them game
ReplyDeleteHow could MS have let this go? I'd love to play Outrun 2009 on my XBOX 1.
ReplyDeleteI remember I had a demo disc called XBOX Live Arcade Unplugged. It had UNO, a marble game, and poker on it.
ReplyDeleteThe Sonic Adventure games have way too many problems for them to be completely decent!
ReplyDeletewhats the title of the game at the beginning of the video with the Tomcat....?
ReplyDeleteBionic commando rearmed was a great game with a fantastis soundtrack. Still listen to it from time to time.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed that funny ass doritos crash course game, my god did people rage on that shit back in the days
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for a good rally game on the xbone how about dirt rally? Impersonally not into racing games but I've heard good things about it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite XBLA game was that one game that was like a crossover between Minecraft and halo or call of duty

ReplyDeleteYEESSSS Marble Blast Gold! thank you Greg Cansessa
ReplyDeleteI think I had 100+ games on XBLA. Spent the majority of my gaming time on there. Was such a good feature. Easy to buy, easy to look over your library of games. Aesthetically very very pleasing. Best feature of the last gaming generation for sure.
