You will no longer be able to purchase Nintendo Wii Shop Points from March 26, 2020. Let's take a look at the service and let's talk about some of our favorite games on the service that we think you should get before it is not too late.

My Life in Gaming makes documentaries, deep dives in retro console material, and more. .
18:16 Alright TRY those blinking dots on the bottom of the screen is actually the game's code running while being displayed in the Sega's Genesis's video signal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MY-jUkogbg. Also for NES games on original hardware via capture cards and HDTVS, if you look at the left side of the screen, ever notice that grey line from top to bottom? That's the Vertical sync pulse for the NES's video signal.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised with the quality
ReplyDeleteWill you PLEASE do a Wii U virtual console review before its to late?
ReplyDeletewhere's greendog??
ReplyDelete2:32 dat ass
ReplyDeleteWhat is the name of the game at 4:09?
ReplyDeleteWatching this now, it just reminded me the weird way they shut down the service. Taking away the option to add funds . Then a year later, that's when the actually shut the service down. Don't know why the did it that way

ReplyDeletewonder boy looks like ninja... EW...
ReplyDeletethey will do anything to make money which includes releasing the same exact games on multiple consoles... makes me sick
ReplyDeleteJust Found a WAD Collection of all the NTSC Virtual console games SF2 and all delisted games Included, that run fine on a PAL WII if patched, (as they run at the correct speed, meanwhile pal VC game run slow), and Enjoying ALL of them througly.
ReplyDeletei remember purchasing Virtual Console games from the Wiishop Channel. i started shopping on January 2012 when i was 13. i got a total of 35 until July 2012 i stopped downloading on the Wii in favor of downloading games for my 3DS. Last games i got was Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic 3, and Princess Tomato Of The Salad Kingdom.

ReplyDeleteGod bless CFW.
ReplyDeleteI can't bring myself to watch this. It's already far too late.
ReplyDeleteYour right about Sin And Punishment Star Successor on Wii. Awesome game. Good to see it get recognized. Still have yet to try the N64 game.
ReplyDelete43:15 Second squad? I thought she said "sit and squat"
ReplyDeleteTry.......I need your shirt! Awesome tribute to the Wii VC, btw
ReplyDeleteWhy is the aspect ratio wrong for me with N64 vc on wii???
ReplyDeleteWow. It may be odd, but I'd never heard of Sin and Punishment or Bomberman Hero before watching this video. Well, I'd heard of them, but only in passing. Never knew what these were, and now I want to play them!
ReplyDeleteThe Bomberman series had a similar game on the Game Boy which was a lot of fun...if anyone wants more Bomberman Hero, check out the GBC game!
Greeeeen Doogg!
ReplyDeleteI wanted rebirth stuff, but I only have 500 points. Less than a day to go! Sadness!
ReplyDeleteFinal day
ReplyDelete2:28 whats that game?
ReplyDelete21:25 all I here is Pokemon music :D. Pulsemans soundtrack was done by Junichi Masuda, who also composed Pokemons music.
ReplyDeleteI remember when they took the donkey Kong country games off the virtual console. I was pissed but I think they ended up putting them back on.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why Nintendo updated the logos in the shop channel, despite it being shutdown.
ReplyDeleteSeems strange...
Wii shop is officially gone now but I was smart enough to save all of my games to an SD card in the case my system ever failed. Truly a lost treasure in the gaming emulator world! Thanks for such a great job putting this together, I really enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteJust resubscribed to your channel, (not sure how I unsubscribed) and I want to say how I enjoy this Virtual Console/WiiWare retrospective! My friend Goemon047 also did a Wii video about the WiiShop service. Please check it out and leave feedback if you like... https://youtu.be/bEDoHZ0IXGI Anyway thanks for the content!
ReplyDeleteim not worried about dl games but what about dlc for games i already own? like lego batman 2. i have an xbox360 and a microsoft account. i downloaded characters and stuff like that for lego batman 3. do they have any dlc things like that on the wii shop?
ReplyDeleteGolden Axe was in the town Perkins when I was little. It was the first arcade machine I can remember seeing.
ReplyDeleteNo one mentioned the strange Muscle March game. I found it to be a fun short and sometimes frustrating romp.

ReplyDeleteNo It Was January 30,2019 It will shutdown the Wii shop for the Wii forever.
ReplyDeleteWhy does absolutely nobody talk about Rage Of the Gladiator
ReplyDeleteThis is happening now. This video is kinda relevant.
ReplyDelete7 days and the Wii shop channel is gone. RIP Wii Shop
ReplyDeleteThe Wii Shop introduced me to the NES, SNES, and N64.
ReplyDeleteSo if someone can quickly answer me before the Wii VC goes offline...
ReplyDeleteHere's the situation:
I have all of Nintendo's main home consoles (with modest libraries for NES/SNES/GC/Switch), and almost nothing for N64, Wii, and Wii U (used to have more for Wii, and just acquired a Wii U with a broken Gamepad, so I've never used it). Most are hooked up to a nice big CRT Sony Trinitron, and the Switch is hooked up to an HD TV. The Wii U is packed in a tote. OK, this is long, but bear with me.
So main question, with some more thoughts after:
Is there any notable advantage to transferring Wii VC games (or attempting to) to Wii U? And is it too late to do this after the Wii eShop closes?
So I don't know much about the Wii U, but you have to play Wii disc games AND Wii VC games in a "Wii Mode" ...right? Does the emulation in Wii Mode look as bad as the emulation for the regular Wii U VC? Like you basically just redownload the Wii U version of a VC game, right? It doesn't actually move the superior Wii emulated game...
PLUS, aren't the Wii U VC games still in HD? (EDIT: I meant "SD") Can you download from the Wii VC shop FROM your Wii U? (Like I could just boot that up and grab whatever Wii VC games I want in Wii Mode?) Or am I just wrong and it playing in Wii mode is just as good as playing on the Wii, and I don't need the Wii anymore? I would prefer just playing old SD games on my old SD TV...
Then there's the convenience factor. I don't want to hook up my Wii U when all I'd really ever want to try is WW HD, Mario Maker, and Pikmin 3... if somehow those never come to Switch. So... yeah, just more convenient to turn on my Wii and play there I guess... probably answering my own question, but I'd still love to hear some opinions.
Probably just download on my Wii and not worry about moving them to Wii U? (I've got 30.00 to spend.)
Very upset that the Wii virtual console goes offline in a few days. So many hidden gems I'm going to miss
ReplyDeleteWe’ll miss you, WCS.
