ReplyDeleteOk, this is an explanation to anyone who doesn't understand why PS3 games run so poorly on modern-day high end PCs
ReplyDeleteGames that are released on console are being optimized for that specific consoles drivers, it was never optimized to run on better hardware, but some do.. and those some are called ports
when porting the game, devs are trying to rescript and remake the game to fit all of the GPUS and CPUS, and make them not to depend on one hardwere (PS3)
Successfull port :
Gta 5, they started making port of the game after it was released, and it took them 2 years to do so, and they succeeded. you can run it on 4K60fps on the highest settings if you have the right specs
A bad port :
example : GTA 4 relased on XBOX 360 and PS3, was made on the consoles first, so when they started making a PC port, they tried and it was bad but still playable (you can run 60fps but there is no way to run it on full high settings) they didn't spend as much time and it failed. when you look at it now, even the best processors and the best GPU'S can't run the game on 4K60FPS high settings (some modern day gpus can't even run it on 1080p60fps high settings)
Playing the game WITHOUT the port and just an PS3 version by an PS3 emulator :
if you just run an PS3 emulator its not a port, its a PS3 original game, there is no optimization for pc, you are playing a ps3 game on pc, PS3 games that were developed for PS3 exclusively aren't optimized for PC, they were never INTENDED to run on PC, so when you force your pc to run the game, on most of the games you will get like 15fps

ReplyDeleteDamn. You can finally emulate PS3 on PC. With a 2080 or a 5700 this would be more than playable. Now it'll probably be about 10 more years until PS4 can be emulated. And PS5 is coming out right now...
